Terms of Service

Welcome to Roan. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and MLR Creations ("Roan," "we," "us"), the operator of the Roan animal-care and community app and website. By creating an account or using Roan, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Roan.

Roan is not a veterinarian and does not provide veterinary advice. Everything in Roan — including AI photo and health notes, the Knowledge Stall, reminders, and community content — is general information to help you organize and think about animal care. It is not veterinary, medical, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for examination, diagnosis, or treatment by a licensed veterinarian. Always consult a qualified vet about your animal's health, and if your animal is injured, in pain, bleeding, or showing signs of distress, contact a veterinarian or emergency animal service right away. You are solely responsible for decisions about your animals' care, and you rely on Roan at your own risk.

Who can use Roan

You must be at least 16 years old to create a Roan account. If you are under 18, you may use Roan only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian. By using Roan you confirm that you meet these requirements and that the information you give us is accurate.

Your account

Keep your login details private and don't let others use your account.
You're responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You can delete your account at any time; deleting it removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

AI features

Some Roan features use artificial intelligence to generate suggestions, breed readings, and informational notes. AI can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. Treat AI output as a starting point for your own judgment and a licensed professional's advice — never as a diagnosis or a definitive answer. AI features have a daily usage limit that depends on your plan.

Subscriptions & billing

Roan offers paid Premium and Enterprise plans, billed monthly or yearly through our payment processor, Stripe.
Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel anytime through the billing portal; cancellation stops future charges and your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
To receive your plan's features in the app, subscribe using the same email address as your Roan account.
Prices and plan features may change; we'll give reasonable notice of changes that affect you, and any price change applies to your next renewal.
Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Applicable taxes may be added.
Free plans may include limits (such as daily AI usage) and advertising.

Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, posts, records, comments, and messages you create in Roan ("your content"). By posting content, you grant Roan a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, host, display, and share that content only as needed to operate the service — for example, showing your public posts to other riders or your followers, or syncing your records across your devices. You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to share it. Content you mark private or share only with specific people is handled according to the visibility settings you choose.

Acceptable use

When using Roan, you agree not to:

Break the law, or use Roan to harm, harass, threaten, or impersonate others;
Post content that is abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, or that depicts or promotes animal cruelty;
Infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy;
Upload malware, attempt to break or overload the service, scrape data, or bypass security or usage limits;
Use Roan to spam or to send unsolicited commercial messages.

We may remove content or suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or put others at risk.

Third-party services

Roan relies on trusted third parties to run — including Supabase (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Anthropic (AI), and Netlify (web hosting). Your use of features that depend on them is also subject to their terms, and we aren't responsible for the acts or omissions of these providers.

Service "as is"

Roan is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it reliable and accurate, but we don't guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or that any information or AI output will be correct. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roan and MLR Creations will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the service, its content, or its AI features — including any harm to an animal that a veterinarian should have addressed. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Roan in the twelve months before the claim.

Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold harmless Roan and MLR Creations from claims and costs arising out of your content, your use of Roan, or your violation of these Terms.

Changes

We may update Roan and these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Roan after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and you agree that the state and federal courts located in Oregon have jurisdiction over any disputes, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
