For 4-H project families

Preserve the work behind the ribbon.

A project animal is months of early mornings, weigh-ins, and quiet effort. Roan helps your family keep that work organized - routines, records, and progress in one place the whole season.

Who can use Roan - read this first

Roan account holders must be at least 16 years old. Anyone under 18 uses Roan only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian.

That means Roan is a family tool: a parent, guardian, or eligible older member holds the account, and younger 4-H members take part through it, together with you. Roan does not offer accounts for children under 16, and this page is written for the adults in the family. Full details are in our Terms and Privacy Policy.

The project, organized

Show day starts calm when the records already exist.

Roan keeps the whole project - care, routines, and progress - in one place your family shares.

One record per animal

The steer, the lamb, the goat, the horse - each project animal gets its own profile with photos, feed notes, weights, and health entries, so the record book gets easier when the records already exist.

Routines & due dates

Feeding schedules, vaccine dates, and farrier or vet visits carry due dates that surface before they slip - confidence before every weigh-in and appointment.

Progress you can see

Weights, condition notes, and session logs add up across the season. When it's time to tell the project's story, the months of work are right there to show.

One account, run together.

The account holder - a parent, guardian, or member who is at least 16 - keeps the records, and the project stays a shared effort at the barn and the kitchen table. Chores get logged after evening feeding, weights go in after the Saturday weigh-in, and nobody is hunting for a lost notebook the week of the fair.

Roan works in the browser on a phone, tablet, or computer, and it's free to start. There is no separate kids' version and no child-directed experience - it's one straightforward tool the family uses together.
